Do you wonder how much does MSE widens the midface or zygos?

do you mean the actual mandibular width or the width or the lower teeth arch?
both could work, the amount you can widen with mse depends on how wide your lower arch is, the ideal scenario is widening skeletally mandible and maxilla but that would be more expensive, thats why Ronald Ead only tries to widen his lower arch without skeletally widening mandible

Wouldn't increasing your zygos have a negative effect on your IPD if you overdo it?

Potentially but the only cases where I’ve seen this really apply are either with very narrow IPDs, very wide zygos, or both.

The beauty of MSE is it’s not a surgery looksmax (even though you have a minor surgical procedure to install the appliance)
It’s a BONE GROWTH looksmax, so this means that as long as you can visibly tell what your Bizygomatic width is, then as you expand, you can measure it throughout the process, and make sure that your ES ratio is still in check and stop expansion once it gets to an unsatisfactory number....or if you’re more of a “feeling based” looksmaxer (as in you believe more in abstract harmony than proportions or ratios) then you feel it out and if you think your zygos are getting too wide then you stop expansion.

MSE is so gradual that any aesthetic fuck up is largely to blame on the user, assuming he knows or cares about facial aesthetics (vast majority of MSE users are for functional reasons).

Isnt what he’s going to do still skeletal but not growth wise? He’s going to have bone transplanted onto his lower arch for the teeth to move into the transplanted bone, isn’t he?

@TsarTsar444 he's the only guy that I know about being from the Balkans (Bosnia, if that helps), 50/50 chance of him knowing any of this (probably 0/0).

Have no idea what the hell is a MSE jfl

How do you measure your zygos? It seems hard as hell to do.

Sorry, lol. You're the only person that I could name that's from the Balkans.

Get a good frontal picture and use your ipd as reference. Measuring your IPD is relatively easy and the margin of error for self measuring it is about a mm or 2 for me.

Technically you don’t even need to know any mm measurements you can just measure the ES ratio from the photograph itself.

Everytime I measure IPD I get 6.2-6.6 mm (jfl), and when I measure my zygos I get 14cm of width. What's the minimum IPD if you're going by ratios? I've heard 5.9 being thrown around, but I don't know about that, it seems a little too narrow.

so could you just buy won moons mse, take it to an ortho to put it in and would be cheap?

My ipd is close to 70mm and my zygos is around 140mm i think. Overal my fwhr is somewhere in the 1.9 range

How much expansion did this bloke have?

Here are screen caps of Ronald Ead before and after MSE at VERY similar angles:

He tried a bit of facepulling with the MSE but stopped due to headaches and social constraints— he was in public too many hours a day to be able to wear the face mask enough hours.

If you’re an adult, I think it’s safe to say that mewing on its own to try to expand your midface is pretty much a joke when you could be trying to get MSE done.

MSE>mewing/THREAD
Wait is it me or did he get a more positive canthal tilt ?
