Should you do exercises for abs when in the gym? If yes which ones?
I hear people say working out abs is cope while some say u need to work em out

Yeah you should train abs the best exercises are Ab rollouts and hanging leg raises
 
yes i do crunch machine,hanging leg raise and weighted plank.
 
50 bicycle crunches.
70 second plank.
70 second side plank (right)
70 second side plank (left)
80 mountain climbers.
----- pause ------
30 raised knee crunches .
20 jack knife situps.

repeat 3 times.

my core routine.

thats a lot especially with 3 repeats. Would it be too much for a beginner?

just don't repeat it 3 times if you can't, your abs will probably be sore for like a week when you start, but after that they never get sore again.

nah i had abs at like 20%bf kinda wild cause it made me think i had wide hips like a kleinfeltercel but turns out i was just fat and muscular somehow despite not working out much before i decided to put size on

does any of that target obliques? iirc you’re supposed to avoid hypertrophy of them to not grow your waist
 
standing explosive twists 20 reps

superset hanging leg raises 10 reps, hanging hollow body to failure followed by crunches to failure

not really. just asking though
I purposely avoid twisting movements, because they're bad for your spine, as a result I don't isolate obliques.
