Does anyone elses parents give them miserably bad advice

Srs my parents are horrifically bluepilled. I just don't get why they seem to not want me to succeed by giving me horrible normie advice. I guess when they were young things were a bit different but still, can they not realise looks are pretty much everything now? Are normies in general this unaware?
