Does bsso stretch the midface/condylar torquing techniques?

my mandible because I have class II malocclusion and is recessed so I notice it’s set far back but whenever I jut my jaw, I have more ramus visibility. I’m aware of the condylar torquing techniques during bsso aka widening and repositioning but is it possible to translate the condyles forward and downward to bring the jaw forward and to stop the bloated look caused by the recessed mandible? Or does bsso usually just stretch the midface and stops the bloated set back jaw look?

Impossible

You can see for yourself when you jut

yes cause jaw recession makes you kinda look bloated
Yup I agree

The thing with jutting however is the condyle shifts forward and downward in the condyles fossa. Are you proposing that bsso carries the same effect I cause when I jut eveb if the condyles aren’t moved down and forward?

When you jut it somewhat simulates a BSSO, your lower jaw is temporarily in a more forward position, which stretches more of your skin in that area, making your ramus more visible

It really is that simple

Try your best to visualize your bite being aligned as best as possible. Or simulate that sort of alignment when you jut. Results look pretty similar to that. Mandible sits in correct position once teeth are aligned. BSSO + Genio is life fuel for me ngl. Very safe common procedure that could ascend and harmonize lower third.

Life fuel for me asw 😍😍

I wonder if I can do masetter training after condylar torquing or it will put to much stress on the tmjs. Chewing lowkey ascends

Some degree of condlyar torquing happens by definition but exageratting using bent plates is pretty rare because its very unstable

I saw giant uses bent plates not sure about other surgeons but I’ve seen I believe from Dr.Paul as well significant amount of widening

Condylar torquing is mostly to sell you the surgery, it barely does anything and will most likely relapse. It can be a plus but not something that you should do or choose a surgeon for bimax for

Wow fr? So ur saying even with custom plates relapse will still happen? Wtf happens then when people get rlly large torque movements where they widen jaws?

I mean the widest is 5 mm and it also depends more if the condyles get seated correctly in the fossa. But yea it can make a slight diff ofc but it should be your main target for sure

It might make a slight difference, but will relapse slightly

I think I’m going to try and get Condylar Torquing and also jaw angle implants with my bimax, so my bigonial width increases.

Ur saying widening 5mm laterally meaning the condyles shift horizontally or 5mm of twisting/rotation? Not sure if rotation is part of relapse tbh

I see uea I wanna do the same get torquing + jaw angle implants. the thing is one is my left ramus is more angled outward but more inward where as my right is more outward and less angled.

I wonder if my right can be torqued more inward so that I can balance it with the left and in doing so get good angularity using jaw angle implants

Condyle head torques

I mean you prolly cant do torquing with implants

U can probably only do a very small amount, so that it is stable.

But yeah as you know I’m gonna do the Implate technique with Ramieri. I have the consultation in December so I will ask

I mean when thinking about it now, it should. ur stretching the skin from a set back mandible
maybe I misunderstood your question
