Introduction to Wnt:
Bone formation is heavily regulated through the Wnt pathway. This pathway influences the osteoblasts so it determines how bone tissue is formed. When Wnt is inhibited it leads to reduced bone formation and increased Wnt activity leads to increased bone mineral density.
The role of DKK1:
One of the main inhibitors of Wnt is DKK1 which blocks LRP5/6 activity causing Wnt to be inhibited. This results in lower osteoblast activity and less bone formation.

How is DKK1 increased:
We unknowingly increase DKK1 through:
Increased stress -> glucocorticoids go up -> DKK1 expression goes up -> Wnt signaling goes down -> osteoblast activity goes down -> lower bone formation
This general idea is followed in glucocorticoid based osteoporosis - PMID: 31094232

Another new study showing the mechanism - PMID: 36506070
Shows how bone mass is heavily regulated by Wnt pathway and its dependancy on LRP5 - PMID: 28341377
Implications:
This could mean that high stress, sitting on ur ass and not using your bones or extreme inflammation could lower osteoblast activity. This means that this pathway could theoretically influence craniofacial bone density
Conclusion:
Overall, this theory could heavily effect people who take extreme amounts of stress from relationships, jobs, exams and etc and is just another reason added to the long list of why cortisol should be regulated.
This is not a groundbreaking post however I still found it interesting how cortisol affected bone formation overall.
We can still regulate this through many OTC supplements like: Ashwagandha (Yes ik cope), magnesium, L-Theanine, Omega-3
