You should start using a blow drier for the sides and wash your hair every day, it's important if you have long hair like that, im also growing out my hair right now. Also it's most crucial to use sea salts at this level, it gives the hair firmness and makes a beachy messy dry look

Get it trimmed up slightly to give it some better shape, buy a blow dryer to give your hair more volume. In addition, you could invest in some good quality hair products (hanz de fuko make good ones).

It would really advise you though to trim the sideburns and hair directly around the ear, despite the overall length. This video illustrates it pretty well:



Also learn to use a blow dryer + sea salt spray. Blow dry the sides over your ear. IMO try to avoid clays as they will weigh down your hair and make it seem less dense because of your fine hair. UNLESS you are using a miniscule amount or apply it mainly on the sides. Apart from that I would shower everyday (I remember you are physically active?), but only use shampoo + conditioner every other day or so and on the off-days just conditioner
