It really depends what you're depressed about, for example, if you're depressed that you lost your job, sex might make your depression go away in the moment (escapism) but your main problem of you losing your job is still going to be there at the end of the day. But let's say you're depressed about your sex life being dry, then sex might be able to make your depression go away since it would be solving a problem that you're facing.
