Does washing your face every day make it age faster?

I'm not too busy at work so I get most done at home, no need to go to the workplace. I go to the gym 6 times a week, but the gym is in my apartment. I leave the apartment maybe 1-3 times a week to meet people or go to a shop. Other days I spent my time inside my apartment.

I take a shower every day and I wash my face every time when I take a shower. I use Cerave Foaming cleanser and Cerave AM or PM moisturizing lotion. I don't have any issues with my skin but I was thinking should I wash my face only on days when I leave the apartment? Someone here claimed that washing face every day might have some negatives like making skin worse or make it age faster, but I don't really know if those claims are just hogwash. If I wouldn't wash my face I would just splash some water on my face and use Cerave only when I leave the apartment. Another added benefit would be the minuscule money saving when I would have to buy Cerave less often.

One argument was something like fucking up natural oil production of skin.

idk probably, but I think it's a worthwhile trade off cuz it enables me to use sunscreen daily
if I didn't wash the sunscreen off every day I'd get hella acne

This is a good point, but I don't use sunscreen currently. I started to use sunscreen daily about a year ago and now my face, for the first time in my life, is very, very pale. Too pale. I tan fast, but the sunscreen completely blocked the rays that tan. (My hands have a tan because I only use sunscreen on my face.) I start to use sunscreen again after I have sufficient tan.

Too much sun exposure will destroy your skin. Imo you should designate days when you go out without sunscreen to get tanned. You can decide the frequency according to your own skin

Yes, I know. That's why I start to use sunscreen again after I get some tan. Or do you mean I should use sunscreen for example every other day (instead of being completely without sunscreen and then starting to use it every day after I have tanned)?

@Wallenberg
Yes, sebum produced help to nourish the skin and is a natural protection to pollution and environment, and fat on face reduce the aging evolution process, the facial hair helps it too

I do all of that and when i am shaved i am going from 28 years expectation with beard to 21 years shaved, i am actually 26 years old

Yea that’s what I mean. It’ll look more consistent, and you can decide the frequency depending on your tan level, exposure time etc

I dont wash it in the morning sometimes, just when i shower.

great question. I'd assume light washing with only water twice a day is ideal but no proof
@Bewusst

Yes if you dry out your skin out too much and don't moisturize after.

I will test and wash my face only on days when I leave the apartment. On other days I just splash some water on my face. Let's see if I notice any difference.

@benignice what do you think?

perhaps, i don't wash it at all and i look 13

I think washing your face is the least thing that ages ur face... things like your diet lifestyle sun and not taking care of your skin are way more important than cleaning ur face once or twice a day with water
