Depends on the shoe but if you're wearing something like adidas ultra boosts or nike airmax/airforces which already provide a ~2cm edge above everyone else I'd go with the 2cm for practicality. Larger lifts are good for boots and other shoes with ankle support. Since they're so cheap you should get both and experiment

just get the plastic ones that you can adjust the height of tbh

i wear air maxxes with 2in lifts and they are pretty comfortable
