The toughest pill to swallow is that dutasteride (and finasteride) while being the most effective drugs we currently have are still pretty shit at what they do.

People often point out that dutasteride nukes 90-95% of DHT but that’s a mistake. That’s serum DHT, if you are looking for anti balding effects what you’re really concerned about is scalp DHT, thinning of hair occurs locally at the scalp so systemic levels are secondary to local levels.

So how much does it reduce scalp DHT by?
Well it’s quite underwhelming.
A related clinical study stated that 0.5 mg/day of dutasteride could lower scalp DHT levels by more than 51%, and 5 mg/day of finasteride could lower scalp DHT levels by ~41%
Barely 1/2 of scalp DHT at the cost of 90% of serum DHT is a pretty trash price if you ask me and I say this as someone who has been on Dut for a long time.

This goes to show why a topical anti-androgen that does not go systemic will mog AR inhibitor to Gandy heaven. Currently RU may do that but its long term safety profile is unknown due to never completing phase 3 trials. Pyrilutamide is the next major runner up but the previous study did not look so good hopefully the current trials running it at a higher dose yield something.

fin blocks 70% of scalp dht iirc.
And you shouldn't even need more than that, you will already bald 3 times slower.
And if ur cycling just use RU while on it, potentially duta if you want to be extra safe

Also fyi 2.5mg duta blocks 95% of scalp dht

I cannot deny that
Join the Indian Army, that is the only solution. Either you get to oversee a cool drone in 2039 or you get shot in the head by Pakistani terrorists

Topicals don't appeal to me personally. Too much work and potential to harm people around you. There's a reason everyone switched to oral min. I know it'd be a hassle but they should make 2.5mg of dut an actual pill it still wouldn't be RU tier but it would halt everything for most people.

Yeah I'm with you there, putting a solution every day on your hair is much more hassle than just taking a pill

I'm on fin rn but I'll have to switch to dut

0.5mg dut and 5mg oral min is the easiest combo for stopping the reaper and regaining ground should suffice for 80%+

However I don’t see a way around topical use if you’re an aggressive norwooder unless you are a hyper responder

RU combined with dutasteride is the only way.

2.5mg Dut reduces scalp DHT by 80%. IDK why anyone takes 0.5mg. 5x the dosage =/= 5x side effects. In my case it’s 5x0 because I don’t have any sides.

The fact 0.5mg blocks 50% is irrelevant to me. Just use 2.5mg.

I can’t understand keeping such a worthless hormone in your body that doesn’t have a single function. All it will do is destroy your skin and hair. I literally feel the exact same with 0 sides on 2.5mg Dut ED. I use RU in DMSO also.

Interesting I’ve only ever been given 0.5 mg by my derm I’ll ask about 2.5mg next time. My order of RU should come in a few weeks we will see how it goes :ogre:

Mirin. Ideally try why some raw RU powder to store in the freezer. Will be cheaper and RU isn’t the most stable so making frequent solutions is ideal.

2.5mg defo mogs to oblivion.

Mirin the full dose, I’ve ordered just the RU by itself for now to trial and test. If it works out next time around I’ll be buying their RU powder and PG + Eth to compound the doses.

Hey bro, can you elaborate a bit more to this greycel about how DHT could potentially harm skin? That's a first

DHT, type 1 specifically, is going to cause up regulation of sebaceous gland. That means they are going to produce more oil and sebum. More oil and sebum = more acne. It also detriments your elastin. Prevent it from doing so because once it gets nuked you can’t do shit about it.

It’s probably one of the best anti aging drugs.

When this nigga stoped Dut to conceive, if you see pics he looked to have aged 10 years in 1.

When you say DHT type 1 you mean the 5 ar type right? I don’t think DHT has types

Rabbi Bibi, I believe there are two types.

ChadGPT response:

Type 1 5-alpha reductase: Mostly found in the skin (including the scalp), sebaceous glands, and some other tissues. It contributes to DHT production but plays a smaller role in hair follicle miniaturization.

Type 2 5-alpha reductase: Found mainly in hair follicles (scalp and beard), prostate, and genital tissue. This is the main culprit for producing DHT that causes hair follicle shrinkage and hair loss.

There are 2 types of 5α-Reductase. Type 1 and Type 2. Fin blocks only type 2. Dut blocks both type 1 and type 2

Yes those are types of 5 alpha reductase (enzyme that makes DHT) not different types of DHT

topicals and especially RU is cope. You have to apply them every day and with a lot of topicals, your hairstyle will be fucked and you'll have to wash your hair before you go out, they often make your scalp itchy as well.
And then there's the fact that it's difficult to apply topicals evenly with consistent, effective doses across the entire balding area, especially if hair gets in the way.

dut is the best, just pop the pill and forget it, there is no need for a complicated bullshit "hair loss" routine, you can just chill + you get skin benefits too

But getting 2.5 is impossible, i keep trying to get it of indiamart but keep getting scammed…
