It's nice not having to work anymore, but retirement isn't really what it's cracked up to be. I'm usually bored out of my mind, and time passes very fast when you have virtually no friends to share experiences with, and no foids in your life.

I had a good job and lived in a spare apartment in my parents' house to save money.
Contributing to a 401(k) helped me accumulate fast, as it's taken from your paycheck pre-tax, and is tax-deferred until your 70s. That allowed compound interest to do its magic.
