you can do that way, but i opt for my own way which is 1g of protein per lb of bodyweight in a caloric deficit between 250-500, and going to the gym lifting very heavy/intense while maintaing a strength base i built up from a long bulk. also some moderate forms of cardio to metobalically burn some few calories throughout the day to make the cut more easier.
