Was forced to learn money management skills. My parents were generous in paying for college but I was on my own for law school. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't abusive at all, but it was hardass; it was the greatest gift they gave me besides the money. They told me the skills and money they gave me were mine to lose and that I'd be on my own with zero rescue. Sink or swim.
