They don't fall for the traps you set for them anymore. They shrewdly sidestep them, inspect them, and seem to recognize the setup for what it is. You used to be able to put a tiny piece of chocolate or cheese on a glue trap and they'd rush in and succumb to it like complete dumbasses.
Now? They seem to have caught on. Their naivete is gone, just like a hooker's.
Even flies are now shrewd enough to avoid traps. A fucking insect with less I.Q. than a snail. Yet, somehow, it now knows how to avoid danger and render the most sophisticated traps useless.
I set up a hanging glue trap yesterday in my kitchen, and not one of these little motherfuckers fell for it. They all somehow know what's up. What the fuck happened to the days when a hanging glue trap was peppered with dead flies?? Oh, right. Those were the docile ancestors of today's flies, that know better.
Apparently, shrewdness, suspicion, and cynicism aren't just human traits anymore. They've somehow spread across the animal kingdom. When humans get smarter, so do the pests that live in your house. These traits are correlated among every living thing. Every species is getting harder to fool, as if natural selection has produced not just smarter animals, but increasingly paranoid ones.
It's honestly annoying. I miss the days when you could dispose of a pest with minimal effort. They're hip assholes now, just like people today.
