I've interacted with plenty of people with genuine autism before and it's pretty obvious most of the time. They often have no understanding of their own social ineptness because they have no ability to read the room or pick up on social queues. I can do all of this, I just never know what to say.

I might have a revelation could you please answer the following questions:

1. Do you struggle to hold eye contact with strangers?
2. Do you prefer to be on your own?
3. When in social settings and alcohol isn’t a present do you stick to the same groups of people? As in you don’t go out of your way to talk to strangers and introduce yourself.
4. Are you awkward around people you know but aren’t familiar with? Like people you know knows you and vice versa, but you two don’t really talk together.
5. Do you struggle to make close friends? As in you can be half friends with a lot of people but not incredibly close friends with anybody?

You can't "have" autism. Symtoms of autism is the disorder, itself. They extended the definition to include all socially withdrawn people
