If there were 2 people the same height and shoulder width.

The guy with the narrower waist would have an illusory effect of having wider shoulders than he actually has, with a supposed normal waist.. if he is by himself in a frame.

The guy with the wider waist who can generate more torque -> more power, in his own frame would look to be narrower as his shoulder to waist ratio is unideal.
Until, he steps into a frame with the guy with a narrower waist.

Why? A narrow pelvis is ideal for upright walking, we evolved that trait specifically as humans. Narrow hips = better running mechanics.
