Hey everyone,
I’m 18 and about to start orthodontic treatment, and I’d like some honest opinions on how this might affect my facial aesthetics (especially at rest, not just smiling).
Diagnosis:
Any input (especially from people who had MARPE or similar cases) would be appreciated.
Thanks
I’m 18 and about to start orthodontic treatment, and I’d like some honest opinions on how this might affect my facial aesthetics (especially at rest, not just smiling).
Diagnosis:
- Class III tendency
- Narrow maxilla (narrow palate)
- Dental crowding (upper and lower)
- Posterior crossbite
- Some overbite
- Mouth breathing at night + poor tongue posture (can’t fully rest tongue on palate)
- MARPE expansion for ~2 months
- Then Invisalign to align teeth and fix the bite
- Will expanding the maxilla improve midface support (cheekbones / under-eye area)?
- Will my jaw look wider?
- Is it realistic to expect any counterclockwise (CCW) rotation of the mandible from this kind of treatment alone?
- Could my resting face look more “balanced” or less tense after correcting the bite and airway issues?
- Will lip posture improve (better lip seal at rest)?
- Overall, do cases like this usually lead to noticeable aesthetic improvement, or is it mostly subtle?
Any input (especially from people who had MARPE or similar cases) would be appreciated.
Thanks
