My scleras have literally always been really red but when i started accutane a few months ago, they got so much worse. I contacted a doctor and he just prescribed me some moisturizing eydrops and antihistamines which haven’t done shit. I do have lumify and yes it helps but only short term. I need to fix this problem but i have no idea how, any tips please?

Accutane nukes your meibomian glands, so - less oil - tears evaporate faster - eyes get dry, irritated(red). Lumify just covers it up for a bit, doesn’t fix the root. Go see an eye doc ASAP, not just derm.
Slight guide but still would recomend doc:

Fix your drops (most important)
If you’re spamming regular drops - stop. Preservatives will just irritate your eyes more over time
Switch to preservative-free artificial tears if possible(PF only), or even better lipid-based drops
At night use gel drops/ointment, thicker = longer relief.

And you should try warm compress 5 - 10 min (twice a day if bad) (this melts the oil), right after gently massage eyelids to push oil out, clean lids with wipes/foam so glands don’t stay blocked

Also, maybe smth else irritates it, low possibility but still - drop any contacts for now, try to battle dry air(if needed, humidifier), wear sunglasses in the wind or sun, and check your omega 3 intake, I would light supplement

(!) If it doesn’t drastically improve after a few days of doing this properly, I beg u to go to an optometrist/ophthalmologist who deals with dry eye. They prob give u prescripted anti inflammatory drops or even short term steroid drops if its severe so yeah

tldr - your issue isn’t red eyes, it’s a broken tear film, u should try fix the oil layer or it won’t improve, but I would mainly suggest going to the doc :feelswhy:
