Eye Color Alteration

Images

Preamble -

Lately I have been looking into the possibility of eye color alteration and how to best go about it. At this point, all of my research has been from a theoretical standpoint, as I still have not definitively decided weather or not I would like to try to do this. From the admittedly cursory research I have done so far, I have found a few potential ways to accomplish the goal of changing ones iris color, and will be sharing them here along with a question that is specific to myself but could be applicable and even relevant to almost anyone.

option 1 - levobunolol

This is an eye-drop like medication that has reportedly lightened the eye color (changes brown iris's to blue) in a decent percentage of patients who are prescribed this treatment and use it regularly for a long period of time. The intended purpose of the medication is to treat glaucoma and there is a decent amount of research already available on it. The tendency (that the medication has) to make iris pigmentation go from brown to blue has been observed in clinical trials and also in simple observations that have been made and recorded by ophthalmologist that prescribe this medication to their patients. This medication is a little outdated and is generally no longer in circulation. However it is fda approved and it is still possible to source if enough effort is applied to actually finding it. The issue is that the moa (mechanism of action) is not exactly clear. It is more or less obvious that there is some sort of depigmentation occurring, but the specifics about how this happens are still unclear and are not really relevant in the medical zeitgeist, seeing as this medication is now somewhat obsolete. Additionally, these effects are very long term and the potential changes will only become visible after 5-10 entire years of consistent use. It goes without saying that this would be a very high maintenance way to change your eye color.

Option 2 - Keratopigmentation

This is essentially just an eye tattoo from what I understand. It involves pigmentation being inserted into the surface layers of the eyeball above the iris. The effects can end up being pretty uncanny but some of them look good.

Option 3 - Laser Iris Depigmentation / Stroma

This method utilizes specialized lasers to change the already present (natural) particles of pigment in the iris. This will often (but not always) result in a blue or gray This procedure is known as a relatively safe and reliable method to change someones eye color permanently. Some clinics that offer this procedure also are able to let you pick from a decent variety of specific hues for your iris's to be, so you are not always necessarily bound to get either blue or grey. The results from this look fairly promising. Again with this method, the issue of it appearing uncanny once its finished arises, but depending on the case specific variables it can also look very good once its finished and fully healed.

Option 4 - Iris Implant Surgery

This is a more rudimentary method that is done by surgically attaching an actual film like insert that is pre-colored in whatever way the patient chooses it to be. The results of this operation are (in my opinion) often very uncanny and the procedure itself has a daunting chance of complications occurring and making the final product look bad.

Option 5 - Sungazing

This method is probably already very well known amongst those who frequent these forums. It is usually associated with the 'raw meat' and/or 'primal' proponents that can be found on here (no disrespect to them I guess). I will admit I have taken part in this method myself. When doing it my goal was to change my eye color (and not to be more primal or anything like that JFL) and to be honest I think it may have caused slight depigmentation in my case and lightened my eyes from hazel to a more green or amber like tone. However this method is probably the most controversial as it doing it creates a great risk of damaging your eyes (specifically the cornea) and possibly causing eyesight loss from doing it incorrectly (or too much).

Personal decision regarding how to approach eye color alteration -

With all that being said, it has occurred to me that when going about this, one does not by any means need to change to color of both eyes. In some ways the alternative (only changing one eyes color) is preferable. If you were to hypothetically only change one of your eyes color, you would be able to create a sort of synthetic or man made type of heterochromia. This is (in my opinion) a very intriguing possibility. If this could be accomplished it would serve as a significant rarity and uniquity halo, as only 0.06% to 1% of the global population is born with heterochromia. This would certainly make you stand out as an individual. assuming oyu go about the initial alteration properly, once you achieve this look it can be leveraged and simply be included as one of your personal attributes for the rest of your life. In trying to do this, you are undeniably running the risk of botching yourself beyond recovery. If done incorrectly, this could frankly look extremely uncanny and be utterly off putting to almost everyone that gets a look at your face. But, nonetheless this possibility is still rather tempting to me.

So essentially, the question is weather it would be better to change both your eye colors to the same degree, or only one and try to give yourself heterochromia?

If you have any input on this, please offer it in the poll and/or the replies. Additionally, if I have made any mistakes within this thread, please inform me so I can correct it and try my best to ensure total accuracy. Were all gonna make it brahs, its never over.

mirin effort, high IQ thread

however, although heterochromia will make you stand out as a person and is very interesting, you'll instead just be more so seen as an outcast

it's a pretty odd trait to have and not in a good way; not all attention is good attention.

i feel like just having a unique eye color uniformly is a much better halo than looking like a mutt.

that being said, i feel like these surgeries are pretty flexible and can be done multiple times over the course of a couple of years. i would definitely just play around with it and be my own test subject, see how others treat me and what i like the most.

Option 5 - Sungazing
also seriously nigga? JFL

Yeah thats a good point. It is by definition a severe genetic mutation after all. Thanks for the complements though on my first serious thread. (y)
