Failed DIY Teeth Whitening

TLDR: Did DIY teeth whitening and my upper lip got hit with the H2O2, had to abort.


Last night I did DIY teeth whitening with 2 IRLs. First I did my buddy, everything went great, gingival barrier was perfect, I just used a bit too little H2O2 so the guy still has to do another 1 or 2 rounds later.


Then he did me. Gingival barriers were already a bit botched (Frank Tufano reference ). I even put kitchen paper under my upper and lower lip because I have a wide palate and the mouth spreader isn’t enough otherwise.


When he applied the H2O2, the paper under my upper lip slipped out and my upper lip got fully on the H2O2. Had to stop immediately and rinse my mouth.


Gonna try it again tonight by myself with my retainer (thick gingival barrier, H2O2 in the retainer).


Anyone else have experience with this?

I think I noticed in time, my mucous membrane on my upper lip looks normal and it’s just a small white spot on my gums
