Endogenous H₂S Exposure

Hydrogen sulfide is a natural signaling molecule your body already produces. It helps regulate blood flow, protect cells from oxidative stress, and support healthy endothelial function. Your gut generates it every day through normal fermentation, so a controlled inhale of your own flatus delivers a small, usable dose of that same molecule.

When you take that short, close-range inhale, the hydrogen sulfide reaches the nasal and lung tissue and triggers a few well-documented responses. It activates Nrf2, which raises your body’s own antioxidant enzymes. It supports endothelial nitric oxide production, improving local blood flow in the skin. It also opens certain potassium channels in the tiny blood vessels of the face, producing a measurable increase in circulation. Over time, the repeated low-level exposure can lower background stress signaling as well.

The net result is better facial blood flow, slightly lower oxidative stress in the skin, and reduced tension from chronic cortisol. In practice this shows up as clearer under-eyes, more even skin tone, and a less strained appearance

Kutz et al., “Evidence for a functional vasodilatatory role for hydrogen sulphide in the human cutaneous microvasculature,” The Journal of Physiology, 2015.
