Wouldn't the face mask have the same effect as the face bow because when forward growth is achieved the mandible will automatically jut forward in order to compliment the new position of the maxilla. If you have an overbite you 100% need to be using facebow* instead of facemask, normally protraction is normally only done with underbite ppl where chin cup is ok but since you have the opposite you need to ensure the mandible comes forward or you will just accentuate your overbite
that’s only if the mandible is unrestrained, if it wants to grow forward the counter force will restrict it, chin cup therapy is used alone to limit excess mandible growthWouldn't the face mask have the same effect as the face bow because when forward growth is achieved the mandible will automatically jut forward in order to compliment the new position of the maxilla.

My ortho talked to some colleagues and was it confirmed the mandible follows the maxilla during protraction. Not exactly sure if the chin cup builds resistance, but my ortho gave me it without a doubt. I told him exactly I want both the jaws to go forward and he even agreed with me when I asked him if the mandible will autorotate. autorotation is only one aspect of having the mandible follow, and that aspect should be fine with chin cup, however there is also the position and actual length of the mandible that needs to be accounted for, for making your jaw grow forwards and chin cup counters one of those and possibly bothMy ortho talked to some colleagues and was it confirmed the mandible follows the maxilla during protraction. The reason your ortho didn’t bat an eye is because chin cup is the only known way to combine with protraction, it’s the bread and butter, there is a .1% chance he has even heard of a face bow
The autorotation will only account for the mandible adapting in you guessed it, the rotational aspect, however with face mask you are both causing a rotation + GROWTH, if you don’t also induce a growth of the mandible (or positioning change), and your maxilla grows forward while your maxilla does not you will only worsen the overbite

@retard didn’t you say that you should turn at a faster rate because of more skeletal change?View attachment 570636View attachment 570645View attachment 570646

slow expansion is (apparently) the best for skeletal change, I was surprised about his turning protocol, usually it’s the inverse of his plans@retard didn’t you say that you should turn at a faster rate because of more skeletal change?
I’m trying to find your thread that said you changed your mind on slow expansion. You said in one of your threads that you needed fast expansion and chewing to make sure the mandible grows with the maxilla. You keep contradicting yourself, which one is it? So slow expansion will make the mandible catch up with the maxilla?slow expansion is (apparently) the best for skeletal change, I was surprised about his turning protocol, usually it’s the inverse of his plans
someone on TGW said according to won moon slow expansion results in more midfacial changes, I only said fast once and obviously moon knows more about it than myself (if the third party wasn’t bsing)I’m trying to find your thread that said you changed your mind on slow expansion. It’s my orthodontist’s protocol. And I think 1 turn is pretty fast because I am 15. And 2 turns after suture split is considered rapid expansion. Which I think he’s telling me to do that for some reason that I don’t know yetslow expansion is (apparently) the best for skeletal change, I was surprised about his turning protocol, usually it’s the inverse of his plans
All treatment 22 monthshow long are you having mse+fm for?
Yes when u go to ortho, they usually take a whole 360 X-ray of your skull. I saw mine on the monitor and I am so fuckinf rEcessedDid you have a lateral cephlogram taken?
I got a referral to the ENT what should I say to him/her? I also got sleep apnea and insurance if that helps alsoLet’s fucking go big W, keep giving updates
I see an ENT next week, getting one step closer....
$6.7khow much is it costing you?
Decent. It's gonna cost me an arm and a leg$6.7k
doesn’t seem that bad compared to other numbers ive seen. are u planning to get msdo or anything else like that?$6.7k
Mostly you should emphasize your problems with breathing and talk about how narrow your nasal airways are. I also have sleeping issues, although if they did a sleep study that would suck, but if it meant proving my problems I would do it. They won't know too much about MSE, don't focus on it heavily. Not all insurance covers certain treatments so make sure yours does. I'll find out soon if mine does fingers crossedI got a referral to the ENT what should I say to him/her? No, don’t plan to get surgeries rn.doesn’t seem that bad compared to other numbers ive seen. are u planning to get msdo or anything else like that?
orthodontist gave me it for a reason sonFacepulling is cope
Awaiting your bimax post
Yeah I recently got done a sleep study and I couldn't breath at all while sleeping so my nasal airways is small as fuck so I might have a high chance of getting it covered by my insurance. Something like MARPE would still be beneficial my palate isn't super narrow nor is it wide however I heard that it might make your zygos wider I mean my zygos are wide as fuck Idk if I really want to make it even more wider. Do you know if I should get this when my zygos are already wide as fuck?Mostly you should emphasize your problems with breathing and talk about how narrow your nasal airways are.
