2 years back i had secured a summer internship at banking firm and one thing i couldn't help but notice was how miserable all the finance guys looked tbh I was in the engineering department so regular 40 hours a week timings for us and work was generally interesting. I liked how the finance and banking department looked . Always in suits, looking very put together and formal and professional while in engineering department not a single person cared what you wore and barely any social interactions with people outside of your team while the finance guys were 24/7 on face time calls. They looked like they were doing something very important but in reality were just doing some Presentation on PowerPoint or Excel or whatever. All the time. Very repetitive boring work and also 80 hours a week. Some of them even took showers in the office which I didn't even know was a thing until then and the funny part is that the junior engineers made about as much money as them slightly higher actually but their salary cap and bonuses was much higher than the MD of engineering

Thatโ€™s true, howโ€™d it go at your internship?

Finance bros seem very sophisticated but serious :Smartge:

im not going to say exactly what i do as 30 yo virgin corporate wagecuck but yes you are right.
the only people who go into bbib are narcys, or well bread private school people with slightly above average iqs.
if you are genuinely high iq and make the mistake of bbib, then youll cfamaxx and then jump into AM/HF/PE within <3 years.
if you are a high iq from the beginning your math degree will get you into prop shop asap and youll be earning double bbib while work 1/3 as hard.

If you want to work in tech. It's best to work tech companies imo. Like goldman Sachs, Black Rock etc have a big engineering department and pay well but it's better for your career to stick to the silicon valley

I feel initially when you are starting off it's better to a get more specialized and hard skills certificate like CPA which moves you into accounting and auditing and work your way from there to high finance with an MBA. You won't have to go through those sweat shop jobs.

Finance is the worst because you can't even delude yourself into thinking what you do is providing any value to society or the world. It's just a cancerous outgrowth of the machinery of an uncontrollable molochian model of hypercapitalism. The only people who take any real enjoyment from finance are narcy's who like to hear themselves talk during zoom meetings.

I really have this contempt against these Finance bros. The market and the economy is fugazi like the moon landing yet they earn more than the engineers:feelswhat::feelswhat::feelswhat::feelswhat::feelswhat::feelswhat::feelswhat::feelswhat:

I'm probably coping here as an IT dude:pepeW::pepeW:
