its not about mindfulness techniques or anything like that. managing your short form content consumption wont help either. its about not using social media at all throughout the day.

for context my dopamine receptors were so fried that i kept opening tiktok right after closing it and would scroll for hours without moving at all. it got to the point where that shit made me feel physically sick and disgusted. if youre in a similar situation you can likely relate to feeling like youre a complete failure at the end of the day because you didnt do anything productive due to being disctracted all day

i started to just set an alarm at the same time early in the morning every day and leaving my phone at the opposite side of the room so that i have to get up to turn it off. then i just dont go on my phone until i go to bed at night. trying to only use it a little bit wont help because you will eventually just end in a doomscroll anyway. i got an app that locks all social media platforms on my phone and only lets me use them for 5 minutes each.

so if youre struggling with tt addiction just try this. your brain will start working properly and recover within a day. im now able to focus on schoolwork and i do a lot throughout the day. im no longer distracted from my hobbies and can watch hour+ youtube documentaries and pay full attention
