A common misconception about the Frankfurt plane is that the tragus (the thing next to your earhole that sticks out backward) needs to be horizontally level with the bottom of the eye.
That's incorrect. The correct Frankfurt plane alignment is the porion (the tragion may also be used) being horizontlally aligned with the orbitale (which is the infraorbital rim).
Some people are right about using the porion/tragion but incorrectly believe that the bottom of the eye is the other reference point.
I see many users here who think that rotating their head to a downward inclination is the proper alignment. It's not. Unless you're extremely downward-grown, aligning your head to the Frankfurt plane shouldn't make you look like you're tilting your head down. It should look like you're looking straight ahead.
