The hedonic treadmill just proves that having something on top of something you already have or don't need is bad. That's why money can't buy happiness past 150k (depends on location)
But removing stress from your life isn't part of this. The happiest people are people who have a goal in life and aren't stressed. Thats why money can buy happiness under 150k

imagine buying a iphone x when it comes out. now you are fuckin annoying of it after the iphone xs max comes out. now you want the 11 pro. now you want the 12 pro max ultra plus. You just WANT better things, even if they're not necessarily that good. hedonistic treadmill has honestly been a real fuckup in my life, but i've become a lot more grateful now

Everytime you earn more in life, your expectations increase. So in the long run, bring rich won't make you much happier if you aren't poor. Lottery winners are generally not happy after a year.
A study showed that this doesn't apply towards certain things.
For example, people who had more free time and lower work hours, had a higher baseline for happiness.

Exactly. Even if the next best thing is 1% better, you still want it to showoff, be happy that you own the latest thing, flex, etc.. It really fucks you up if you're stuck in the cycle
