FUCK ENGINEERING WTF do I do with my life. HIGH IQCELS HELP!!!

Damn bro for someone who owns a company to still not have enough money is insane, and even with devoting so much time to it too. Im guessing its cuz he needs more money to provide for ur family tho.

Im hoping to work in faang or nvidia or any other high tech yeah. Tbh i dont really enjoy anything, but ive done work related to cs and its what im best at so hopefully once i start college ill become more passionate towards it.
Im planning on taking the AI path for cs, hopefully this field will be crazy important in the future and ill get a good position.
lol "i dont have a passion for it but hopefully once i start i'll become more passionate towards it" if anything its the utter and total opposite. speaking as someone who dropped out of CS cuz my 2nd programming class was too hard. albeit it was online, it was way too difficult to do without IRL instruction for me. i guess that depends on your intelligence level and motivation and work ethic though. as one of the few genuinely ugly people here my motivation is HORRENDOUSLY low so take my opinion on this with a grain of salt.

but its known that in the beginning of learning programming theres a high level of confidence as you do easy hello world type shit, but after that theres a huge drop off in confidence as things get VERY complicated, VERY quick.

after my first programming course, i was at that "i know everything" poiint. halfway through the second i was at that "i will never understand this" point where is when i quit.

i've always loved and still love technology, but being in the weeds of it made me almost forgot my love for it. its fucking sad.

From what I understand .org has the highest IQ humans per capita on the internet so I though I'd ask for advice. I've graduated as an electrical engineer about a year ago and have been working but this shit fucking blows. Sometimes you get to apply your engineering knowledge but for the most part you are a glorified paper pusher. I'm thinking about quitting and learning data science/ CS or some shit, doing some projects in Python and then applying for work in the field. Thoughts? I've saved up enough to NEET for a while, I'm thinking 6-months to learn and create a project or two in Python. From there I'll apply for a position or maybe do financial analyst, learn the market and become rich. Advice you 200 IQCELS? Can't believe I worked hard to finish with a 3.9 GPA only to end up doing this garbage. I swear if being an arborist paid 6 figures I would have done it but this materialistic world has consumed me.
Go into finance. They'll take anyone who has good maths skills, an ability to work hard, and alright social skills. Prep for interviews and try to be as N.T. as possible in the interviews if you're ND.

bro life sucks, you don't have to enjoy your job just work hard and save up.. start a business if you have the balls too, life isn't easy, it's competitive, 8 billion motherfuckers pray on your downfall everyday

Fuck man, I'm not that high iq and my motivation levels r pretty low too, its my chink parents pushing me around lmao. Ive already centered my college applications around computer science so i cant switch right now.

So u started out with cs in college, how much free time did u have? I dont want college to be a repeat of my high school life and im tryna be more social and go to events n shit, but Im worried with a cs major, even if i have the best time management possible, isnt gonna work out.

This is what working as an Engineer has done to me. Loved learning about EE in University but work has made me despise it. I'd rather do something else at this point because the work is disgusting. IDK maybe CS is better.

I've considered this, had I just started college I would have went for some BS medical degree like dentistry or optometrist but too late now. Plus, I graduated with no debt so going 200k+ in debt would make me feel like shit lol.

I'm trying to make the switch to finance. Maybe become a financial analyst or something and say that I have experience with data sciences and use that as an edge to get hired.

The goal is to save up and then start a business or something, hopefully it works out. Yup, too many eyes watching hoping you fail.

If you wanna do good as a cs major, you might have some free time but not much.

Like about how much? I heard that EE is a lot more work than any other major so its probably comparable to CS/CE. If i practice the best time management possible, can i still get a medium/high gpa, do research/internships, and have a good social life, meaning like I go to parties every 1/2 weeks, go out with friends n other shit?

Now that I think about it, it doesn't sound possible whatsoever :lul:

is CS over-saturated/becoming over-saturated or are people lying

EE tends to be the most difficult but all majors will require time and effort. With time management it's possible to have a social life although difficult at times, for instance during exam time. It really depends on the person, some people pick things up quicker and don't need to study as much while some don't and study for longer thus not having much free time. Overall, kinda hard to party a lot but possible.

I don't think so, people usually think FAANG when thinking about CS and assume that because it's hard to get a job with one of those companies it must be saturated. Don't get me wrong a lot of people doing CS but I don't think it's insanely saturated like some people make it out to be. @User28823 might have a better understanding.

Also, name of whore in pro pic?

good info, you're right about FAANG being people's only perception of CS - also her name is 'reign judge', dunno if its a stage name for her modelling career

Right now the job market is shit, some say almost as bad as 2008 levels. Lots of FAANG engineers got laid off so all the companies that are hiring are swooping them up making competition even harder. Now all the bootcamp grads and fresh college grads with shitty resumes (seriously people think a degree alone grants them a job) are crying about muh oversaturation but the reality is these people aren't really employable and have no skills and likely half assed their way through their degree. There is a shortage of skilled engineers.

You're better off transitioning into a field where you can use some of your EE degree skills rather than starting from scratch in like dentistry imo.

I'm just like you OP fr, worked for one year after graduating from my engineering degree but didn't really enjoy it so I'm now learning on my own to try and pivot into data science.

Like @User28823 said, job market isn't really favorable for people like us rn, but I've seen companies starting to backfill positions so maybe it'll get better.

Ya, I think I've decided that's what I'm going to try as well. I'm going to try and pivot into data science by learning online and then creating a couple of small projects to add onto my resume. I'll try to bs my resume a little so that it helps.

Good luck. I’ve heard people say they had to go back to graduate school to make the switch to DS but there’s so much material online I honestly think it’s possible that way too if you’re smart about it and put in the effort.

Im going to college next year and gonna major in cs just for the money, is it really that bad? I just wanna be able to make a lot of money and retire in 15 years. Sorry if this sounds naive, im genuinely curious.
Pretty naive yea, but most people in CS are like that but it completely depends on how competent you are. If you are a boosted brainlet its fucking over unless ur an attractive foid, then u can get all the trucels in ur class and eventually ur company to suck you off

I deal a lot with embedded systems and a lot of what I do deals with testing and validation.

What's your starting salary as an electrical engineer?

Nigga I’m studying in the one of the best engineering schools in Europe and I make very good money working as a mechanic, even though its a part-time job. I’m not embarassed about working like a real man instead of sitting all day. You probably can’t even install a light switch by yourself. While you sit on a office chair all day, I’m learning from an ex f1 pitstop crew chief of Alfa Romeo.
