there is no such thing as chin recession. if u have a recessed chin it means the whole mandible is recessed.

for context ive had camoflauge orthodontics with extractions (brutal ik), but i still have a pretty recessed mandible and lip incompetence. ive been thinking of genio or maybe a bsso but i dont know if its worth it. im thinking of maybe just masking the issue of my recessed mandible with a genio like in the vid, even if its not the best solution because a bsso is very invasive and requires a lot of time, money, and resources so the tradeoff might not be worth it if its not medically necessary.

im faced with the decision of doing a BSSO which requires 1+ years of preperation, then the brutal recovery period, and of course paying for it (insurance will not cover because its not medically necessary) in order to get the ideal jaw, but i realized i still would need a genio aswell to fix my lip incompetence issue. my parents would probably pay for it but i dont wanna make them do that.

i could also do a genio which requires no preperation, less brutal recovery, paying for it (but alot cheaper), which will get me a good or okay lower third but the tradeoff is alot better.

my side profile/lower third is my most brutal failo and is what is keeping me at hltn-lmtn. if i had the ideal jaw id be mmtn+. i met with 2 surgeons: one said that a genio would help by giving projection and then vertically reducing it, the other said it wouldnt help in my situation. my question is is it worth it to follow through with a BSSO to fix the root issue or just do a genio to fix my lip issues and add a little projection (which will be satisfactory but not ideal)
