u know how much lateral width is needed for 8mm for example to retain same width

I would consult professionals for that, and bring a morph of what you're looking for, they can usually eyeball this stuff

Keep in mind, you can literally ask your consultants / surgeons all of these questions, they're people too, and understand all your concerns. Just tell them "Hey I'm scared this will make my chin more narrow, any way to change that?" and they'll give you advice based on what they're experienced with.

They're cosmetic surgeons, they know about aesthetics.
