Genioplasty to mask mandible recession and lip incompetence

Can a genioplasty help fix slight lip incompetence? The problem for me stems from mandibular recession primarily (to me i think the chin has slight recession aswell) but jaw surgery is not an option for me. To what degree can I mask or improve the side profile with a genio (if the real problem is mostly mandible recession) and will it help lip incompetence?

I guess it's somewhat possible. But I honestly wouldn't recommend it if you're trying to compensate for mandibular recession. Genioplasty doesn't move the mandible. So if you opt for it, it would just improve your side profile projection and reduce your lip incompetence instead of actually repositioning your lower jaw.

Genioplasty won´t have any effect on your lips. Do you even know what a genioplasty is? And yes it can somewhat mask your recession I believe in an augmentation genioplasty you can have an advancement of over 10mm which is decent. But if your whole jaw is recessed then I dont understand why you want to half ass it, always keep your facial harmony in mind. Do you consider it with implants?

lip incompetence can be caused by combinations of different structural issues. In my case it’s a combo of downward growth, mandible recession, and maybe some chin recession. A genio may or may not help. It’s a case by case thing. I’m looking into meeting with surgeons to get a professional opinion.

maybe his isn’t that bad to where going through with full jaw surgery is worth it. I’m planning on doing the same thing with genio and filler to make the jaw less soft and under lip fold better.
