In excess this is absolutely true, but being bigger is deemed worth it to some. I think any hardcore gymgoer intrinsically knows it's gonna make them die sooner. Moderate levels of activity to the point it feels good and not pushing yourself hard is definitely healthy though. I go gym because I don't wanna be the 135 pound skinny guy I used to be and am much better looking at 185 pounds now so it's worth the sacrifice

It will equal more gains unless you go past the threshold where you're doing too much even for that, but it definitely isn't ideal for health for sure. I actually have had more gains from going 2x a week than when I'd go nearly everyday 4 years ago jfl. At my best strength to weight at 155 pounds I could do 10 pull ups in a row. Right now I'm too heavy for that and can only do 6 in a row, but considering how much heavier I am that still means I'm stronger than before in terms of absolute strength. Just not relative strength per weight. Still lean and most of the extra weight is muscle which is essentially the whole point of gym. I don't cope and think it's healthy though and the sole reason I do it is looks. Stuff like going on a nice walk or doing some milder physical tasks can be healthy though since you don't wanna be a vegetable

diet is what makes you or break you of course physical activites are needed walking 8-10k steps a day is more than enough back in my home country everyone in the country side just consumes meat,diary and wild caught fish and all they do is just walk around in the sun my grandfather has incredible strength and he hasnt stepped foot in a gym ever hes 96 year old walking 7-8 kilometers everyday in 30-40 degress in the summer a heavy gym goer wouldnt even be able to walk a kilometer at their 50s without their bones cracking

I can easily hike for 5 miles on hot days on hilly trails so I'm overall pretty fit not just a gym goer who can do nothing else like many. In terms of diet I have to dirty bulk to gain enough weight with my body so it's not the healthiest diet but I always eat plenty of meat and other protein.
