So I've been wanting to hop on a higher dose of accutane but i'm scared of hair shedding, is it true accutane makes hair fall out and if yes should i take something along side to prevent this?

You're relying on Google Overview and then have the audacity to say "one google search away"? :lul:

OP, hair shedding from isotretinoin is obviously not androgen-related, rather telogen effluvium. Just take minoxidil if you want to cause relative extension of the anagen phase of the hair cycle to compensate for the relative extension of the telogen phase of the hair cycle consequent to isotretinoin use.

5mg a day, higher dose anything above 20 to be fair
20mg a day or EOD is considered a "low-dose" of isotretinoin. And studies on this suggest the only side effects are: dry skin/lips/eyes. So hair shedding should not be a problem.

Pretty sure high dose only causes that but it’s not gonna be alot of shedding, so it’s easy to counter

what's too high in your opinion and can hair grow effectively on 20 mg's + of isotret
Yes its a low dosage (20mg) there are low chances of hairloss but it also states here that its often temporary

I've literally not heard one proper anecdote of this happening though, outside of nocebo cases anyway (not a proper anecdote).

Stop citing literature when you literally haven't read any of this shit.
It takes me like 5 seconds to go through the results and see numerous patient reports of continued telogen effluvium even after discontinuing isotretinoin use.
Now, this implies likely one of two things, the isotretinoin induced epigenetic change (extremely unlikely and unheard of AFAIK) or the telogen effluvium was consequent to something other than isotretinoin.

Either way, the fact you don't note this in your post means you don't know shit and don't have the understanding of this stuff to be giving out advice, so don't.

Idgaf, do what you want, I don't give advice to boost an arbitrary number on my profile.

so ur saying it's very unlikely to happen right?
Yes.
And can be countered with minoxidil in the event of. Note that minoxidil might exacerbate telogen effluvium short-term initially because it will expedite the shedding since hair follicles currently in the telogen phase will be accelerated through said phase.

And you have the option to not rely on it, dumbass. The point is that it's inaccurate. What a retarded argument.
i already fucking knew that accutane causing shedding at high doses but i didnt know the mechanism

how does accutane cause telogen effluvium (not saying ur wrong)

Literally the only mention of hair loss in the entire article :feelstastyman:
Good idea, let's get OP to read something completely irrelevant.
isn't it not being mentioned a good thing i mean?
If im looking into a risk profile and my concern isn't even mentioned that would answer my worries?

Either way its unlikely which is what I stated 3% of people experience it on low dosage which is often not even caused by the isotretinoin

Obviously it and my reply imply that it doesn’t pertain to the content of the literature so it’s redundant to read said article. Get your head out of your ass.
If you can’t answer this question yourself, don’t give advice.

Do you just argue for the sake of it? Does it make your life feel better did you even read my post and reply. Before typing shit consider using your brain

I've taken it, it's the best drug for acne. The only thing that cured it. I didn't even purge that badly. The only side effects I noticed was dry skin and dry lips. Nothing more at all, It made me less depressed because it got rid of my acne. It didn't make me lose hair, It didn't prematurely close my growth plates (I've grown 4 inches after I was done taking it).

I took 50 mg. 2 months after I finished my treatment I started to shed massivly all over the scalp. I thought I had no sides, but apparently this was not the case.
Hoping it will stop soon or I’ll kms.
Apparently post accutane telogen effluvium is possible.

i've been on 20mg isotret and 5mg oral minoxidil and my hair has been growing faster than ever. Either lower dose or hop on minoxidil and finasteride first time hearing about this though
