Unless we're talking about extremes where you're literally hundreds of pounds/kilos overweight, this shit meme of a healthy lifestyle and eating is just another example of the just-world fallacy. Your weight, blood pressure, predisposition to cancer and heart disease, etc. is overwhelmingly genetic, like everything else.
Case in point, myself vs. my mother. The latter is in her early 60s, and she's a fat, disgusting pig. She constantly binges on junk food and sugar. Yet her blood pressure is in the 120s (she does take blood pressure meds, admittedly, but this alone cannot explain her low BP, even with meds, considering her age and horrible lifestyle). Meanwhile, I'm half her age, and I've got 130–140 blood pressure as a result of sleep apnea that I'm finding extremely hard to fix, even with treatment. This shit is fucking genetics.
SSRIs also permanently lowered my metabolism. I used to be able to lean down to 69 kg as a 6.2 ft tall, scrawny guy, even with a horrible lifestyle (drank every weekend, binge-ate junk, etc.). But after spending 2 years on Lexapro, it's like my normal body functioning has been permanently changed, even though I've been off it for like 2 years now. Losing weight is now extremely hard for some reason. My libido also tanked.
Maybe salt, sugar, etc. do play some role in health outcomes, but it's secondary at best unless you go extremely overboard. Genetics > everything.
