hey i plan on getting a growth plate scan tmr idk what to expect they said they can do it and interpret it with a follow up consultation

what part of body should i get scanned because i heard certain growth plates close faster/slower than ithers and what to ecpect because ik height comes from the knee or idk to much ill also upload it if i get it

PLEASEEE GUYS LMK SO I CAN DO GH

1. Hand and Wrist (Left hand usually)
  • X-ray type: Bone age scan (Greulich and Pyle method)
  • This is the standard scan. It compares your bone development to average charts to estimate biological age and growth potential.
2. Knee
  • Includes: Distal femur and proximal tibia growth plates
  • These are major long bones, they contribute a lot to height and close later in puberty.
3. Pelvis/Hip
  • Includes: Iliac crest (Risser sign)
  • Shows how far you are into skeletal maturity.
4. Clavicle (Collarbone)
  • One of the last bones to fully fuse, can show late-stage maturity.
