Is high vs low set masseters a real thing I've been chewing super hard gum for masseter hypertrophy but digging deeper I see this debate about high vs low? Is it a real thing? Some people say it isn't.

I've had more ramus definition on side profile however I noticed I look more bloated on the front profile after chewing for a few hours

(Edit)
I'm also lean but I'm 15 and have a bit of baby fat left does that change anything?

if you have low set you shouldnt worry about

Yes peoples masseters can be set differently if the masseter is set lower then chewing will make the jaw look better however when it's high it often causes you to just look bloated instead which likely could be what you're noticing, if you want to check you can flex them / hard chew and look whether the muscle seems to pop out far down or not.
If it helped I'd appreciate if u could mark as a solution( ☑ not the thumb ) ❤️

idk bro just search it up on google
the jaw hypertrophies from short term hard chewing not chewing for hours on end which will only give you tmj. get mastic gum, chew it for 20 minutes a day every other day for a couple months alongside a hard diet and there should be a noticeable difference in masseter thickness
