Highest paying job right after uni. Mogs quant

The working hours isnt brutal. Theu only work for like 6-7 hours but yea the workload and thr type of work they do is head breaking. Less like a 9 to 5 job and more professional athlete of the brain
not according to blind people at open ai were easily pushing 60-80 hours a week and they always had to have their mind on their work which makes sense, maybe its changed in the past 3 years tho but i doubt

No I don't have the kind of experience or research intuition those top Al researchers have. I'm more of a developer. I can handle the math and the coding, but I need a clear objective or end goal to work toward. Abstract, open-ended problems with no clear direction just aren't my strength

Damn these curries and gooks making NBA type money. Kinda funny to think about tho, you need to have insane IQ and insane academic achievements + extra circulars just to be in the same tax bracket as roided niggers who throw a ball into a hoop  says a lot about this clown society/world

With that been said, these mfs deserve the salary tbh. AI really is changing the world (for the better imo)
except that NBA money is even better because those niggers have guaranteed contracts. They literally get contracts that say they're guaranteed 200 million for 4 years they can just fuck off and stop playing and still make 200 million like Ben Simmons lmaooo. These AI/ML research incels could have their jobs taken from them tomorrow and not make any more money because the AI isn't generating any revenue.

I will say this tho. Finance pays very well but most of your money will be made in your late 40s. Tech is saturated and is Hella competitive but it still remains the only sure shot rags to riches path to making it big. Immediately after uni you get a big fat salary and have actual work lifr balance @Saint Casanova
most of Tech's WLB is gone after 2022 with inflation rates sky high and layoffs every other week making the workforce giga oversaturated. Most tech companies are 10% PIP firings every 6 months you'd know this if you actually worked in industry lmfao just parroting shit you've heard from tech influencers trying to scam you.

False. These people get Equity grants worth tens or hundreds of millions of dollars, Retention packages (4-year RSU deals sign-on bonuses) Buyouts and acquihires with guaranteed payouts. Even exit liquidity in case of startup acquisitions.

OpenAl is expected to do $3.4B revenue in 2025 and Anthropic's Claude already has enterprise contracts with top hedge funds. The AI train cannot be stopped @Swarthy Knight @Saint Casanova @Duke Archer

I work in the industry nigga. I am a devops engineer. You are partially right after 2022 inflation, layoffs have definitely increases

In my case, the hours are still manageable, and most of the pressure comes from ownership and uptime expectations, not arbitrary grind culture. PIP cycles exist, sure - but they're more of a pressure valve than a purge at most orgs.

This is water. RSUs don't vest if you get fired no one's confused about that. But top-tier Al researchers aren't getting fired left and right. They're in insanely high demand. That's why Meta, OpenAI, and xAI are throwing out $10M-$250M packages just to keep or poach key talent. The risk of getting fired before vesting is way lower at that level.

For the hedge fund comparison no argument that top PMs managing billion-dollar books are in another tier entirely. But you're comparing 10 people in finance to maybe 100-200 people at the top of Al. And even then, people like Sutskever, Karpathy, and Amodei are already sitting on $50M+ equity stakes - some heading toward generational wealth

tbh people overrate how much you can do with it at the moment. as a codercel myself it is unbelievably overhyped for coding. imo the best use of AI currently is quickly getting answers to things that have already been done 1000 times but if you ask it to actually reason and think creatively it sucks dick. The best use of it is unironically to cheat on things. If you're in school and have decent hacking skills then the best thing to use it for is to cheat on all of your exams that are virtual. I mean the day that ChatGPT got released it literally killed the company Chegg (go look at the stock since 2022) which was what everyone used to use to cheat on shit but it sucked dick to find stuff and you couldn't use it to instantly give you answers because you had to wait for some retard indian to answer it.

I forsee someone making AI enabled smart glasses soon to take pictures of papers and pass it to ChatGPT to get u the answers on things.

Yea this is the big issue is it'll get you like 80% of the way there but you have 0 understanding of how any of it works so now you need to dig through what's wrong to get the next 20%. In many many cases if you just started off doing everything manually yourself you actually would've gotten things done faster.

Too bad companies are going to move away from leetcode style interviews soon so you can't even do that anymore.
