My mother, for most of my life, cooked, cleaned, grocery shopped, drove me to places and tutored me in addition to being the sole bread winner for the whole family, while my father LDARed at home or went drinking with his friends, only to leave when I was 18. This fast life history ecology contributes to the reversal of the flynn effect and as lowering iq is correlated to poor genetic health, it is fair to say that overtime we are becoming dumber and sicker. If we become dumber and sicker not only will be unable to raise stable, family units, correlated with raising children who can exercise delayed gratification and self-control, but society will be unable to technologically progress, and in the worst of cases, even maintain existing infrastructure.
This is consistent with the peak of the Malthusian cycle that we are currently in.
The atheist Malthusian theories also has confluence with religious mysticism life cycles which similarly postulate yet another societal decline / 'end' of the world. For example, Hinduism's kali yuga or the Torah/Kaballah's end of the world 5852 Anno Mundi which is 2092 in western years.
