How accurate is this method of testing recessed maxilla?

Apparently if u put ur fingers in ur ears and then open and close ur jaw, your fingers should not feel the mandible moving. if you do, jut ur jaw forward and then open and close it :- and u should stop feeling it.
It's claimed that with ideal maxillary growth / projection your fingers should not feel the mandible returning.

Sounds more like checking if your tmjs work properly

It‘s just a sign to detect angle class 2 maloclussions as your jaws are recessed and therefore your tmjs move diffrent.

Jutting your jaw forward is just meh. Says nothing.

So this isn't reputable to test if your maxilla is recessed?

Most people here don’t have a recessed maxilla this crap needs to stop lmao.

Made Mikkelsen and Robert Pattinson are the only examples of flat maxillas I can think of and they still look good.

I got to know about my recessed maxilla from certain ways.

- visible nasolabial folds when lean

- face looks like a concave surface/crescent moon when smiling.

- being able to push your nose in (yeah sounds absurd, I just have better facial muscle control.)

- side profile. Obv.

-nose and chin are more forward than mouth/lips. (I don't have an underbite!)

Being able to push your nose in? Can you elaborate on that please?

Just ignore that.

it's really weird and only observed it in my case.
So not reliable.

I just though of mentioning it just in case

Isnt nose supposed to be more forward than mouth/lips?🤔

That is in case of recessed mandible and chin.

I have a well developed lower third. And nose.

My both upper and Lower maxilla are recessed like Robert Pattinson.

But I am not Robert Pattinson

Could you drop a reference pic comparing this between a well developed and under developed maxilla?
