How do I communicate to my barber the exact amount so he actually understands how much to cut without going...

Too short like most do.

I would show a picture of a guy with a messy longish hair on the top which would be eyebrow level and sides / back would be shorter but not as in a fade or any skin showing.

They still manage to make it way above eyebrow level and my back look flat with very short sides.



Do I need to speak in specific numbers for them to understand it that way?


What do you guys usually tell them with or without showing a picture

My hair has been grown out quite a bit so cutting myself won't be a good idea.

And I need to buy new equipment that is better to my liking

I have no choice
