How do I let go of hate?

I find myself being hateful alot. Especially when I see anyone I deem uglier than me, and everytime I catch myself thinking like that, I'm filled with an overwhelming sense of disgust on myself. Despite how ugly they are, they're sometimes happy. Happier than me. I'm envious.
