how do i maintain my semi long hair

So my face looks the best when the hair is semi long however whenever it gets a bit too long and i go to the barber to cut it a only a little, they end up cutting a lot and it makes my face look like shit again and i feel suicidal everyday for the next two weeks or so so what do i do is it a barber issue or what

so how do u guys with hair that’s a bit on the longer side maintain it how often do u get a trim and is there anything specific to be said to the barber?
