how do I stop my dentist from cooking me??

Soon I am getting braces but my dentist said that I need to get some of my teeth removed because of my crowding. I don't know what to think about this because I'm sure that this will collapse my jaw. on the other hand this will straighten my teeth but I'm not sure the pros outweigh the cons. please suggest any other ideas or options I should suggest to my dentist.
