How do you bonesmash your chin and jaw without hitting (and causing damage to) the TMJ?

I've had tinnitus for my whole life, so I'm very reluctant to try bonesmashing on my jaw as I'm afraid it'll make my tinnitus worse. How do you bonesmash your chin and jaw without smacking your TMJs?

You’re ear canal is right behind your TMJ. If you bonesmash your jaw, there’s a chance of hitting the nerves there

The nerves have a distinct feeling. If I am not mistaken they'll have a tingling feeling when you hit them
