Fixing a recessed maxilla without surgery is difficult, especially in adults, but there are some non-surgical approaches that may help improve facial aesthetics or function, particularly when the issue is mild to moderate. Here's a breakdown of your options:

1. Orthodontics

  • Braces or Clear Aligners (e.g., Invisalign): In some cases, orthodontics can improve the appearance of a recessed midface by optimizing bite alignment and forward positioning of the teeth.
  • Functional Appliances (for younger people): Devices like the Reverse-Pull Face Mask can stimulate forward maxillary growth in children and adolescents but are not effective in adults.

2. Mewing (Orthotropic Tongue Posture)

  • This involves:
    • Keeping your tongue fully pressed against the roof of your mouth.
    • Maintaining correct head and neck posture.
    • Breathing through your nose.
  • Reality check: There’s limited scientific evidence that mewing can make a significant change in adults, but it may help improve posture, breathing, and minor facial appearance over time.

3. Facial Exercises & Posture

  • Exercises to strengthen muscles around the jaw and cheekbones can enhance definition.
  • Correcting forward head posture may also help improve facial balance.

4. Dermal Fillers (Non-Surgical Aesthetic Option)

  • Strategic placement of fillers in the cheeks and midface can visually improve the appearance of a recessed maxilla.
  • This doesn't fix the bone structure, but it can help create the illusion of better projection.

5. Myofunctional Therapy

  • Especially useful if you have tongue posture or breathing issues (e.g., mouth breathing).
  • Can improve muscle tone, tongue position, and breathing, which may help the face appear more balanced.

Summary for Adults:

  • Structural changes without surgery are very limited.
  • Orthodontics + myofunctional therapy + proper posture/mewing can help optimize what you've got.
  • Fillers are the most effective non-surgical aesthetic fix for facial projection.

If you want, I can give you a daily routine or checklist based on the non-surgical options. Interested?

Okay so you have two options. You either go to an orthodontist and get a palate expander and hope they give you one. Two, you try out every cope softmaxx thing like reviv, thumbpulling etc (questionable if they actually work but you might as well try). Lastly you just have to wait and age and see if your bones grow on their own since you're pretty young

Yeah, fair point — a lot of guys feel that way about fillers. They can definitely soften the face too much and mess with the natural masculine lines, especially if overdone. Not to mention, they don’t fix the root issue — just mask it temporarily.
So if we’re keeping it natural and surgiat sticks to function, structure, and aesthetics without the fake stuff:

1. Mewing (Proper Tongue Posture)

This is your long game. The key:
  • Tongue fully pressed on the roof of the mouth (even the back part).
  • Lips sealed, teeth lightly touching.
  • Nasal breathing only.
It’s subtle but when done consistently, it can gradually enhance facial definition, promote better airway health, and potentially improve forward maxillary support over time.

2. Myofunctional Training

This supports mewing and helps retrain facial and tongue muscles. Try:
  • Tongue push-ups (press tongue up and hold).
  • Nasal breathing drills (especially if you’re mouth-breathing at night — mouth tape helps).

3. Hard Chewing

Chew tougher foods (dried meats, raw vegetables, gum like mastic gum or falim) to strengthen masseter and support midfacial structure naturally.

4. Posture & Neck Alignment

A recessed maxilla often pairs with forward head posture. Fix that:
  • Chin tucked in (not down).
  • Shoulders back and down.
  • Neck elongation exercises (e.g., wall posture holds, neck bridges).

5. Orthotropics / Orthodontics (if feasible)

Even in adults, some orthodontic work can help, especially if there’s bite misalignment or narrow arches. A skilled ortho might use:
  • Palatal expanders (some types work for adults).
  • ALF appliance or similar — subtle but can help widen and slightly bring forward the midface.

Would you be down for a daily routine or training plan that combines all of this? Could make it super straightforward and habit-based.

That’s 3 options.

Since you’re 14 you might get lucky as you grow older and you can’t really fix recession without surgery unless you get braces or pallete expander and that also luckily somehow fixes your jaw

Cold showers and using sunscreen when going out
