You can when it comes to making objective assessments or observations like spotting zits or determining the current length of your hair, these are things that aren't dependent on your own personal and subjective interpretation (kind of could be in case of hair length but once you've established a foundation as to what constitutes as a certain hair length level for you you can then make objective assessments and distinguish it from delusions) which is completely different from ascribing a label to yourself in regards to an abstract concept where you're only using your own cognitive limitations and perceptions and ultimately "hoping" or "thinking" you fit into a certain criteria with nothing objective and not subject to debate to go off of.
