How do you take a pic that represents how you look to other people? Should you take a mirror selfie? Or take one from 6-8 ft distance

put ur camera on a shelf or something similar to human pov then record and sit down at a desk or walk around i guess

So a 6ft distance from the camera is enough right?

different distances i guess, eg how people would see you close up versus far away

Place phone on a shelf and start the video, then begin talking while walking around the room. Guaranteed ropefuel if you are sub-4.

You don't

You need a very high spec camera and lens which costs over 2 grand

Or you need to go and have a professional photoshoot done

Your photo otherwise will always be distorted and it's whether you are photogenic or not that matters then. Everyone's image will be distorted, some people's distorted version that comes out looks good and some people's doesn't. Even good looking people's photos can look bad.

A video is less distorted than a still-photo, but still distorted all the same.

IRL is the most accurate. Mirrors. Or if you wanna go that step further, true mirrors, which shows you how others see you. You can buy them for 250 bucks on the net.

If you don't look good in forget getting anything good on a tinder/bumble profile because it won't work without a faceapp morph.

Loads of people look better irl and think their photo is how they look lol. Mostly young gen z. Even us millennials are stupid tho and think our nose really is that big coz the camera says.

Evidence would be on here many have thought many users were below average until they took videos of themselves and opinion quickly changed.

Don't fight yourself on the photos. Retards will say play with angles, but unless you can afford a very very high spec lens and camera, if you aren't photogenic, you will never look as good on camera as you do irl.

true mirrors
True mirrors are bullshit. I cant tell a difference between my friends mirrored or not, its all in your head.
But mirrors in natural lighting or a dslr are the only legit ways to see your true self

Everyone is fighting lens distortion though. Unless you look especially bad in the camera, then relatively speaking the camera is an accurate means to compare yourselves to others.

No boyo. Some people look better with lens distortion, some look worse.

No it's not dummy. You just want to make this an explaination because it's not dumbed the fuck down black and white logic.

You can be somewhat good looking and still have the camera do you no favours and turn you into looking average af.

It's been proven time and time again. I have Chad friends who look way better irl and only kinda good looking on camera with failos you would never see irl. The camera distorts you and some people's distortion looks good and some people's doesn't. It's as simple as that.

There are loads of guys on here including myself who look better on video. Still-images are not accurate. Trust me on that one. Even videos are distorted.

Here is an expert on photography delivering an answer to a question on this on Quora:

In my experience, the main reason for the difference between our true image and the photographic image is the lens. Most lenses distort the image, and this distortion is extreme in cheap cameras or mobile phone cameras. This distortion allows for a more panoramic view, but you pay the price of distorting the image. Some people will look good because the distorted version of their image results in an appealing image. It is still distorted and far removed from the original, but it just so happens that the distortion is pleasing to the eye. Cases where someone complains that they look bad in photographs or that they are not photogenic is usually because their distorted image is not appealing to the eye. To prove this is true, you can use a lens with very little distortion, such as the Canon 85mm f/1.2L. The closer the number is to 1, the less distortion you get. In this case the lens has a value of 1.2, very close to 1, and it’s a lens especially thought for portraiture. The only problem is that such a lens costs in the region of $2000. That is only for the lens. You need a good camera to attach it to.

Then there is a secondary source of distortion which is worth mentioning, which are the flash lights on cheap cameras or mobile phones. They are completely wrong in the sense that they project frontal light, which results in squashing the image like pancake. Again, some people’s faces when distorted in this way result in a not too displeasing image. Lighting properly a face to take a photograph is an art unto itself, not to be left in the hands of instagrammers or other people armed with a mobile phone and a flash.
