I only eat 500-1000 a day and rarely get hungry except when I legit haven't eaten in a long ass time. With any meaningful deficit you will start off hungry, it's inevitable but your hunger hormones and stomach size adapts.

I think if you eat at a specific time consistently it lets your hunger hormones know when to activate so if you do that a decent bit before bed they might not act up as much at night.
