Your orthodontist would have to take x-rays and see some kind of bite issue (Class I, II, or III), or TMJ issue at the joints. If you get insurance to cover it, they will only advance your jaws enough to where the functional issue has been resolved. They DO NOT give a shit about aesthetics, and if you are trying to get it for aesthetic purposes and do not have some kind of bite issue, your insurance won't cover it since they consider that an "elective surgery" AKA not medically necessary.
