How long do you have to wear braces before jaw surgery?

I know the answer differs individually and I've heard variants from 6 months to 2 years. So I just want to know your experience /anecdotes.

Braces in april i think, jaw surgery is at end of the year. So about 6 months of braces before double jaw surgery.

I dont want to still be KHHV at 21-22

also with braces at this age even if I had a decent jaw all my chances at ascension are ruined.

anyone else who got jaw surgery or is knowledgeable can give their input?
