Go for 12 don't be a pussy personally i did 8 and i am going for 12 now

it would mainly depend on the allowance of the lower jaw.
You could always get a second expander installed after fully turning the first one.

It’s not the best option as it will tilt teeth. But it’s definitely better that going for a shorter expansion

Im currently on the course for 8mm but I will see if I can get more. My ortho's current method for the lower jaw is to upright the molars.
